Parties
Hi, everyone! Are you ready for your first look at one of my parties? Well, here it is: Harry Potter Party! This was held for a twelfth birthday. It was a total hit! It was so much fun to make, and I pride myself that everyone had fun. I will be telling you all the things that I did and did not do. Some of the things that did not happen would still be so fun! Here we go. Today I will only be going over the party favors I made, but you will soon know the rest!
Party Favors:
To make these party favors I bought some brown paper bags. I then printed out some of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy emblems and glued them on. Walla! The bags are done.
I then made chocolate frog cards. I like to think that the most magical color is purple. Do not ask why, but I do think is is just magical. This being so, I used purple construction paper for the cards. I then printed out various famous people from Harry Potter for my cards ( Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Alberic Grunnion, etc.). I am pretty sure I did about 10. I then got information on the people I chose and stuck them on the card as well. The chocolate frog cards then went into the bag. One favor done!
You cannot have chocolate frog cards without the chocolate frogs! I went online and found a chocolate frog mold (they are really easy to find) and bought it. When it came I had bought some of those melting chocolates (they come in white packages). I melted my chocolate and then put them into the molds. I then put them into the fridge to cool and harden. When I got them out and they were hard, I punched them out of the mold and placed them in a clear plastic baggy I got from the dollars store. I took some blue ribbon and punched a whole through the corner of my cards before tying the card to the bag. Now the chocolate frog cards have a chocolate frog to go with them.
Next was the paper Hermione Granger found in the second book. The one that helped Harry and Ron solve the mystery? To make this find a picture of one by searching 'Most Macabre Monstrosities'. Type everything into your own document. One thing you will have to do when printed, is write in scribbly handwriting in the bottom right hand corner 'pipes'. Make sure to underline it.
Next is the money! The money was the hardest part of the whole party favor bag. First you need to make the clay. You can find clay recipes online everywhere. Once the clay is made, shape it into three sizes: small, medium, and large. Paint it using acrylic paints according to size. The smaller coins are bronze, the medium sized coins are silver, and the large coins are gold. These are the knuts, sickles and galleons!
Now I got some 9 3/4 platform train tickets to go with the money! Basically find a picture of one online and print them!
I made small wallets to put the ticket and coins in out of colored paper. I wrote Harry Potter quotes on the outside. You can find ways to make paper wallets online.
Each person got a wand. I will tell you how to make one later, since it was more of an activity.
In each bag I gave a tea staining recipe, since the invitations I gave out were tea stained (later post on how to make the invitations). This is not a must have for the whole Harry Potter experience; it is just something I did.
I also gave out Droobles Best Blowing Gum. This was normal gum packs with a label I made that said Droobles Best Blowing Gum. I printed these out on blue construction paper. I used hot glue to glue them on. The font for the words was the themes Harry Potter font that you can find online. Another great font is a wide bubble font.
Next we have Hershey's chocolate with an 'In case of dementor attack' label on them. The words were in the Harry Potter theme font, and I included a small picture of a dementor on the piece of paper. When hotglueing the slip onto the chocolate, be careful that the hot glue gun is not set at its hottest. Luke warm will do just fine.
The group made Pigmy Puffs, but since they were more of an activity, I will post them later.
Well that's it! I hope you enjoyed this. I will be posting more for you later.
